Ketu, is a high population density area in mainland Lagos, which has an impressive supply of apartments for rent and for sale. It is close to Ojota (a major transit hub in Lagos) and stationed right beside Ogudu, which is a largely residential area with its own GR). Ketu is also a bypass to Ikorodu and Oworonshoki. It is an average neighbourhood, occupied mostly by average income earners.
The Lagos/Ibadan expressway also passes through Ketu, and on the Alapere Axis, it connects easily with the Island via easy access to the third mainland bridge. Flats for rent in Ketu are very affordable, compared to what obtains in more centralized places on the mainland like Yaba and Surulere.
Ketu is both commercial and residential. It consists of several housing estates like Alapere housing estate, Magodo which are interspersed with arbitrarily developed property. Ketu is also close to Mile 12, a large market that trades in perishable goods like peppers, tomatoes, fruits, vegetables and several other merchandise.
The area is relatively secure, with a couple of police stations in addition to the security provided by some of the residents. There are other smaller open markets, supermarkets, shopping complexes and stores within Ketu itself. The condition of the infrastructure in Ketu is satisfactory.
Besides the superb road networking, there is good water and despite the large population, the residents still enjoy fresh air as a result of the Lagos lagoon, which means that the quality of life for those seeking flats for rent in Ketu is assured. There is also non-restrictive movement for night riders who work late nights and don’t want to be hampered by closed gates.
There are several private and public primary and secondary schools in Ketu. There are also good medical facilities as well. Besides the Ikosi General Hospital, there are other private hospitals and clinics catering to the populace.
In terms of rental flats, Ketu offers a wide array of choices. There are self-contained flats for rent, 2 bed room flats, 3 bedroom flats, terraced homes, semi- detached housing and even duplexes available for rent. Some areas of Ketu are not congested and contain nice architectural edifices. Understandably, these areas are more expensive than the rowdier parts of Ketu, like Alapere.
This is why you can get a 5 bedroom duplex at Magodo, Shangisha for ₦ 3,500,000 per annum, while a 3 Bedroom Flat at Alapere can be rented for as low as ₦ 100,000. In some places new tenants would be required to pay an upfront one-year rent while for subsequent renewals, in some places, 6 months’ rent is permissible.
Whatever accommodations you’re looking for, always endeavour to go through the right channels, either directly through the property owners or through professionals.
